DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfers are one of the easiest and most effective ways to apply full-color designs onto garments—but only if pressed properly. At Modfirst DTF, we provide ready-to-press DTF gang sheets and single transfers that deliver crisp, long-lasting results. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned printer, knowing how to press DTF transfers the right way ensures top-notch quality, durability, and customer satisfaction.
Before you begin, make sure you have:
Manual or auto heat press
Not recommended: household iron or Cricut EasyPress for professional results
Custom gang sheet or single design from Modfirst DTF
Cotton, polyester, tri-blends, spandex, fleece, etc.
For optional post-press to lock in the print
Temperature: 300°F – 320°F (150°C – 160°C)
Pressure: Medium to firm
Time: 10–15 seconds
Always refer to any specific instructions provided with your transfer sheet from Modfirst DTF.
Place the shirt (or other garment) on the heat press and pre-press for 5 seconds. This removes moisture and smooths wrinkles, ensuring better adhesion.
Place the printed DTF film face up (design facing garment) in your desired location.
✅ Use heat-resistant tape for exact alignment if needed.
Close the heat press with the recommended settings:
Temp: 300°F to 320°F
Time: 10–15 seconds
Pressure: Medium to firm
Depending on your transfer type:
Cold Peel: Wait for the garment to cool completely, then peel slowly
Hot Peel: Peel immediately after lifting the press
Modfirst DTF transfers are typically cold peel, but we provide label-specific instructions for every order.
Place a Teflon or parchment sheet over the design and press again for 5 seconds. This seals the transfer into the fibers and increases wash durability.
🚫 Pressing with too little pressure
🚫 Not pre-pressing the garment
🚫 Peeling too early or too late (based on peel type)
🚫 Using a household iron instead of a heat press
🚫 Not aligning the print correctly
To extend the life of your DTF printed apparel:
Wash inside out
Use cold or warm water
Hang dry or use low heat tumble dry
Do not bleach
Avoid ironing directly on the print
Modfirst DTF transfers are designed to last 50+ washes with proper care.
Pressing DTF transfers is simple—but accuracy matters. By following the right heat settings and peel instructions, you’ll get professional-level results every time. At Modfirst DTF, we provide only high-quality, ready-to-press transfers to help your apparel shine, stretch, and sell with confidence.
Whether you’re pressing for a business, event, or personal project, our transfers make it easy to get stunning results.
